Pikes Paws

Home Boarding Terms and Conditions

At Paws we aim to provide the very best possible service in a safe, comfortable, friendly environment where your dog feels at home. By completing and signing our booking form you are agreeing to our terms and conditions which are laid out below and you further agree to pay in full all boarding fees in line with our published rates.

At all times we will act in the best interests of your dog. Last minute circumstances may arise and we may have to decline admittance to guests who are unwell on arrival, or to bitches in season, regrettably we cannot accommodate un-neutered males. In exceptional circumstances we may be able to provide one to one support and we would advise you to contact us immediately to discuss options, including any arising additional costs to prevent last minute disappointment.

Pike’s Paws may accept puppies (less than 6 months old), but these will normally only be accepted on a one to one basis which will mean we have to decline booking requests to stay from other guests, please contact us as early as possible to discuss your requirements and we will advise you of any additional costs which may be incurred to cover the more intensive support that we can provide.

All dogs staying at Pike’s Paws must be fully vaccinated against distemper, Kennel Cough, infectious canine hepatitis, parvo virus, parainfluenza, & leptospirosis and a current certificate of vaccination must accompany each dog (we will keep a copy on file). Please note that we cannot accept any dogs without current up to date vaccinations and your booking may have to be cancelled but you will remain liable for the boarding fees. Our licence requires that guests are vaccinated against Kennel Cough which is an airborne infection with a long incubation period and is a little like the common cold. As a result guests may unknowingly be exposed to this infection as it is outside of our control.

If your dog has a pre-existing medical condition please contact us in advance to discuss their needs, should a dog arrive with a pre-existing medical condition that has not been discussed with us we reserve the right to refuse admittance. If while your dog is staying with us a pre-existing condition requires a visit to the vets this will normally be to our vets, Wangford Veterinary Clinic and this will be subject to our current mileage costs, plus a charge of one day care rate per visit.

As Pike’s Paws provides boarding in our home should any dog become aggressive or destructive we will call your emergency contact and arrange immediate collection for the safety and comfort of our other guests, should this not be possible we may need to place any such dogs in secure external kennels and owners will be liable for any additional costs incurred including any transportation fees. Great care is taken to integrate our guest dogs, failure to disclose correct information with regards to your pets behaviour causing injury, accident or damage will result in additional costs for either repair, restoration, loss or other professional costs for example veterinary bills which will not be covered by our insurance.

Pike’s Paws will ensure that every care and attention is given to all dogs boarded, each dog is boarded entirely at the owner's risk. Our play paddock is approximately a quarter of an acre and has a secure 1.2 metre high fence, if your dog is likely to jump this height please alert us to ensure that your dog is kept on a lead at all times. Our home is set on a 3 acre organic smallholding in lovely countryside. We do not walk dogs off lead, however If you instruct us to exercise your dog off their lead, please be aware that you are accepting full liability for any loss or damage caused as a result.

Our guests are required to provide adequate food, bedding and equipment for the duration of their stay with us. Collars complete with identification tag must be worn securely at all times, please also provide a lead or harness

Bookings are normally for a 24 hour period, the earliest drop off is 08.00 and last collection time is 18.00. A non-refundable, non-transferable deposit of 50% is payable at the time of booking with the balance due 7 days prior to the start of your dogs stay. Payments must be either cash or bank transfer. Cancellation of booking will forfeit any deposit paid and cancellations made within one week of the start of booking will require settlement in full. We also provide day care which can be booked for up to a maximum of a 10 hour period. Our normal working hours are 8am to 6pm, late collection or early drop off will incur an additional fee usually reverting to the applicable 24 hour rate. If you require collection or return "dog taxi" services these must be arranged in advance to ensure that we can accommodate you and an additional fee will be charged in line with our published rates.

Owners are required to visit us prior to your dogs holiday as we would like to meet you, discuss their stay and show you around. We ask that in advance of a holiday stay your dog spends at least one trial day with us followed by an overnight stay (subject to the usual rates) in order that they can become used to their new surroundings. Please feel free to contact us and we will be happy to arrange this.

Your dog may be staying and walking with dogs from other families although we will restrict numbers in line with our licence. If you would like any more details about Pike’s Paws please feel free to call us or arrange a visit.
