Oak Tree Cottage

Home Boarding for Dogs and Wild Camping

Oak Tree Cottage is set in an idyllic location in a very quiet country lane between the North Suffolk villages of Huntingfield and Cratfield less than 5 miles South West of Halesworth, approximately mid-way between Framlingham and Bungay and close to the seaside town of Southwold. We offer caring home from home dog boarding holidays for your pooch (not kennels!) where we will personally look after your dog in our home as a member of our family. We also have a one acre meadow bounded by fields and a stream which we offer to wild campers who can enjoy the peace and quiet whilst being close to the beaches and towns such as Southwold and Aldeburgh.

The Paddock

During their stay your dog can enjoy the freedom of our purpose built safe and secure paddock to run around in the fresh air. The land has been farmed as an organic small-holding for over 40 years and it is our aim to be as self-sufficient as possible in today’s modern times reducing our carbon footprint wherever possible. We are animal lovers and are looking forward to meeting you and your dogs, who will be able enjoy walks through the meadows and along the small stream which eventually runs into the River Blyth and out into the sea at Walberswick.

Our cottage is thought to date from the 16th Century and sits in an elevated position with lovely views over our own wild flower meadow and the rolling farmland beyond. We are very lucky to not only have great countryside views in the daytime, but we also share the fabulous Suffolk “big sky”, a truly amazing night sky where you can just sit back with a glass of wine and watch the stars and planets pass by. We enjoy wild camping ourselves and appreciate the pleasure of being able to pitch our tents wherever we want in a meadow and enjoy camp fires and a barbeque and we want our guests to have the same freedom and fun here at Oak Tree Cottage. Our camping meadow works best for couples or individual campers and with this in mind we do limit the numbers of people staying at any one time, please contact us for more details and if you would like complete privacy we do encourage you to book the whole meadow.
